Washi tape based on the woodblock printed designs of indie designer fabric by admi.
Washi tape is made from traditional Japanese paper (wa meaning ‘Japanese’ and shi meaning ‘paper’).
It’s thin, durable, made of natural fibers. The tape is easy to stick on many surfaces – including wood, plastic, and metal – and is easy to remove without causing damage. It’s perfect for gift wrapping, journaling, adding some fun to an envelope or to use as a seam allowance guide on your sewing machine!

admi designer, Chiharu Hori, grew up in the countryside of Tokyo - it sounds like an oxymoron but there is much more to Tokyo than it’s bright lights! She spent her childhood surrounded by nature, the mountains and rivers were up her daily backdrop, and you can see that reflected in her designs.
Chiharu was inspired to start admi when she connected with the woodblock print artisans she met on her travels in India. It was the people who inspired her, their mastery of their craft and the beautiful textiles that resulted. Woodblock printing is a traditional Indian craft that is both labour and time intensive. The number of printing houses that specialise in this technique continue to decrease and admi is committed to sharing the beauty of these fabrics with as many people as possible.
These tapes are based on fabric designs that Chiharu creates in Tokyo before they get turned into textiles, handprinted by artisans in India, using a hand carved woodblock for each colour and layer in the design. This design constraint results in truly unique motifs and a style that is instantly recognisable as admi.
